Frequently Asked Questions

What services do you offer?

I offer individual and couples’ psychotherapy sessions.

Do you offer online therapy sessions?

Yes, I do! You can choose between Teletherapy and in-person sessions at my office.

How long does each therapy session last?

Individual therapy sessions typically last 50 minutes, while couple sessions are 60 minutes.

How long does therapy typically last?

The length of therapy varies based on your unique needs and goals. Some clients might find what they need in a few months to a year, focusing on specific skills or goals. Others may choose to continue for several years, appreciating the weekly space to process their feelings and understand themselves better with the support of an unbiased person.

How often do I need to attend therapy sessions?

You'll get the most benefit from therapy by committing to at least weekly sessions. This regularity helps us build a strong working relationship and identify your goals. Consistency is key! If it seems appropriate and helpful, we can also discuss having twice-weekly sessions. As time goes on, we might adjust the frequency based on your needs.

What happens if I need to cancel or reschedule a session?

Life can sometimes get in the way of our plans, and I completely understand that. If you find yourself needing to cancel or reschedule a session, just let me know at least 48 hours in advance. This gives us the best chance to adjust our schedules and find a new time that works for both of us. If you're unable to provide 48 hours' notice, the full session fee will be charged.

How can therapy help me? What should I expect? What do you expect from me?

Therapy is a special time each week to focus on your mental health. Starting therapy means being vulnerable, and I understand that. We'll take our time to get to know each other, helping you feel comfortable sharing. Expect to put in effort and learn new coping skills. Sometimes we'll face tough emotions, but you'll always set the pace. You can expect to feel safe, guided, and respected. Come with curiosity and openness, and we'll work together to build your mental well-being!

How do I know if you are the right therapist for me?

Choosing the right therapist is an important decision, and I want you to feel confident in your choice. That's why I offer a free 50-minute initial consultation, either on Zoom or in-person at my office. This gives us the opportunity to get to know each other and see if we're a good fit. It's also an opportunity for me to understand your needs and concerns better, so I can offer the best support possible. I'm here to listen to your thoughts and preferences—whether you're comfortable, if my approach resonates with your goals, or if there's anything else on your mind. If something doesn’t feel right, please don't hesitate to let me know. I welcome your feedback and will make adjustments as needed to ensure you receive the support you deserve.

How do I know if your approach is right for me?

I understand that choosing the right therapy approach can be confusing with so many options out there. I practice psychodynamic psychotherapy, which focuses on long-term, meaningful change rather than just short-term solutions. This approach might be right for you if you want to make sense of your experiences, understand where your problems come from, and are curious about how your mind works. It involves exploring your past to better understand your present and developing more self-awareness to gain more control over your behaviors. If you're seeking both immediate relief and lasting change, and understand the value of both, this could be a good fit for you. However, if you're looking for a quick fix, my approach might not be the best match.

How will I know if therapy is working?

You'll start to feel the positive effects of therapy when you sense that you're in a safe, supportive environment where you can openly express yourself. It's about creating a space where you feel heard, understood, and valued. You'll gain new insights and perspectives, perhaps discovering things about yourself and how you relate to the world that you hadn't realized before. Therapy isn't just about gaining insights; it's also about putting those insights into action. Through collaborative discussions, you'll develop new coping strategies, communication skills, and ways to manage difficult emotions. As you apply these tools in your daily life, you'll gradually see positive changes unfold.
